The lawns in front of the house provide a beautiful site for a marquee, with an unparalleled view over the park and lake and then up to Ashdown Forest with the famous Winnie the Pooh “Hundred Aker” wood.
The gardens, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and planted with help from Gertrude Jekyll, with later advice from Vita Sackville West, a De La Warr cousin, provide a really stunning setting.
Marquees can be set up on the top lawn and guests can enjoy drinks on the terraces or wander among the roses in the sunken garden around the lily pool.
The croquet lawn, situated on a lower terrace and reached by descending the ‘Sea of Steps’, provides the perfect location for more flamboyant marquees.
